Often not in this list is German, yet, it’s a rich and interesting cuisine and we believe, one that should not be discounted. We asked a German native living in Barcelona on his thoughts and he provided us with the following list of his favourites:
Chez-Müller

This snack-bar, which lies directly next to the Sagrada Familia is a must for anyone wanting to try out German food. Besides dumplings and the Bavarian meatloaf, you should definitely try the Cheese Spaetzle. This specialty from Swabia consists of noodles, which are layered with cheese and garnished with fried onions. Enjoy great prices and the ideal start for the first time to try something “typically German”.
Old Heidelberg

The Old Heidelberg is the most famous German restaurant in Barcelona. A huge selection of more than 50 different German beers invites you to linger. Located close to the Universitat metro station, the restaurant also offers many traditional German foods such as Knuckle of pork, smoked pork, sausage, potato salad and Frankfurters.
Devil ‘s Kitchen
This grill offers burgers and Mexican food and typical German specialties. Not to be missed during this cold season, the home-made mulled wine, spices and fruits with a refined, warm wine drink. Even the Champignonrahmpfanne with grilled mushrooms is highly recommended.
Don Bratwurst

In a somewhat comparitively remote location, you can find Dons Bratwurst. Besides well-known German brands of beer, you can enjoy for example, potato meatballs and german sausage, finished with cheesecake for dessert , all washed down with a Jägermeister . Are you interested in the German Bundesliga (Football League)? Every Friday and Saturday, local games are broadcasted live from Germany.
