During our explorations of Paris we came across an unusual park. Known as the Promenade Planteé (tree-lined walkway) or the Coulée Vert (green course), it comprises a small elevated park literally planted in the east of Paris nearby Bastille, built on the old Vincennes railway lines. Take a look at the video for a visual tour of this Highline Park in Paris.
History of the Promenade Plantée
The Vincennes railway lines led to Bastille station, today Opéra Bastille, all the way to the commune of Verneuil-l’Étang. Running up until 1859, the line was closed in 1969. Landscape architect Jacque Vergely and architect Philippe Mathieux designed thePromenade Planteé parkwaywhich was finally completed in 1993.
